- December 4 2014 6:39 AMWe have seen over the past week how many people right around the world have been touched by the passing of Phil Hughes. The boy from a NSW country town who grew to be a fine opening batsman for 2 states and of course, also in the baggy green. To Phil's family, our support and thoughts go out to you as you endure no doubt the toughest period of your lives to date. Stay strong. To Phil, RIP mate. You will be missed by many and remembered by many more.
- December 4 2014 2:04 AMOur heart goes out to Phil's Mum Dad brother & sister and all his cricketing mates. We lost our son & brother on the Cricket field & we know just what you are going through. The greatest strength for you will be your faith in God & the wonderful cricketing community which has supported us & stood by us these last 12 years. Gob bless & strengthen you.

- December 4 2014 12:30 AMPhilip, you are one of the Australia's great batsman and you will always be remembered in our hearts....miss you man..!
- December 3 2014 11:40 PMI am sad in so many ways, Phillip. I have cried because you didn't get to fulfil your dream of scoring many more hundreds for Australia, cried that we all didn't get to cheer you on as you did it, cried for your family and your friends who love you and will feel an emptiness inside for the rest of their lives. When you first were picked for Australia, you were reported as saying, "And so it begins." We are heartbroken to have to say, "And so it ends." Farewell and God speed, Phillip.

- December 3 2014 5:44 PMFor Phillip Hughes...you will always be remembered:
Seasons come, seasons go-
But the Sun shines over snow;
Cool wind, over wounds, will blow,
Healing them but keeping memories alive- like embers in ashes aglow.
The green will be deeper still,
The gold will be spun from a stronger mill;
For all the moments-big and small,
For everytime you picked 'em up after a fall.
There's no saying we know it all,
But some things- they wake you up, give you a call.
Bowing to a life that will live on....
A Star so bright, shining at the break of dawn... - December 3 2014 5:35 PMPhil Hughes was a champion,it was a tragady
- December 3 2014 5:26 PMFrom the first time I saw Phillip with his father on TV, I knew he was special. Such a wonderful family, such tragedy. Having lost an adult child as well, I know the road will be a hard one. The strength of the family will prevail. God bless you all.
- December 3 2014 5:15 PMVale Phillip Hughes, this is just not cricket, as it was once said. Forever continue your innings on that batting paradise on the pitch in the sky, gone but forever not out.
- December 3 2014 4:46 PMPhillip Joel Hughes as I sit here and write this ,, it feels as though your passing has not happened yes Phillip you are with us because your spirit will live on and inspire many to not only play our game but live there lives inspired by your tenacity to never give up and achieve their dream as you did. We will miss you and grieve but we must as all good batsmen do ....get on the front foot and advance our score to achieve the goals we set , just like you did , Phillip Joel Hughes. Rest In Peace we will never forget you.....Paul Brien President Moore Park South East Cricket Association , for and on behalf of all members.
- December 3 2014 4:35 PMOur son Ryan (who lost his life 5 years ago) fondest cricket moment was that he troubled Phillip with his leg spin bowling & almost got him out in an Under 17's rep carnival at Newcastle. At least Ryan now has a decent batsman to bowl to in heaven. Our love & thoughts are with Phillip's family & friends.

- December 3 2014 7:31 AMR.I.P Hughesy!!! You were a little pocket dynamo who never gave up on your dream of wearing that baggygreen. When the chips were down you always pulled yourself up.
The cricket community is 1 big family.....the sport will not be the same without you little champ. Thoughts are with you and your family. #Forever 63NotOut #ValeHughes - December 3 2014 7:31 AM"Through the tears and heartache, I hear all my cricket Family screaming down the pitch "NO!" We must run, not away, but towards our mate, trusting that he will protect us and see us safely home." R.I.P. Champ.
- December 3 2014 7:27 AMTenacious. That's how I thought of you. Persistent little bugger - he's determined. And such a good lad. I thought for sure you'd come through. For. Sure. Which has made it all so much harder to face.
As a parent, the pain for you and yours is too much to think of. As a long, long time cricket follower - it's really brought home just how intimately we are all connected - lads, larrikins, drop kicks or tools - you're all part of our families and our shared histories, your triumphs and your challenges, we felt them with you, and it's hit hard. Just so damnably inexplicable. You'll always be here. I expect to see you opening somewhere - 'cause you were that bloody tenacious.
Go well. I hope that you're feeling the love x - December 3 2014 7:22 AMRIP, Phil Hughes. You will be missed by all.

- December 3 2014 6:03 AMAn Addendum to Vitai Lampada
The grass was hot in the Sydney sun
The bowler's charge to bend the game; -
His: the hope to make the test again...
Then the bouncer struck-hard and long.
The ball was jammed-the batsmen dead.
Sixty-three not out it will forever be said.
But he would say, though his hope is gone -
"Play up! play up! and play the game!" - December 3 2014 6:01 AMThere hasn't been a day that's gone by since you left this world that I haven't teared up. I loved seeing you play for Australia and especially the Redbacks & Strikers. It'll be really difficult watching those teams knowing you won't be there but I know you'll be smiling down on your mates and cheering them on. You're an amazing person who's made the world a better place. Love, prayers and thoughts to the Hughes family. RIP Phillip Hughes
- December 3 2014 5:59 AMRest in Peace Hughesy. Forever 63no, Forever Young. Thoughts with Phillips family, friends and many teammates. May your spirit live on in the game forever #408.
- December 3 2014 5:44 AMI believe that when Australian's are batting whether it be for Australia or for their state and they reach the score of 63 that we should call drinks to salute our fallen hero Phillip Hughes , lets do this to remember him in every game we play , R.I.P my friend Amen
- December 3 2014 5:28 AMMuch too soon. So many more games to play.
- December 3 2014 5:20 AM'Only the good die young'! Too young to leave us! Sadly missed!
- December 3 2014 5:16 AM
- December 3 2014 5:14 AMI was privileged to be there at the MCG when you made the best ODI debut possible. It was a scorching hot January day when we cheered the first Australian to score a century on debut. The only surprising thing for me that day was not how brilliantly you played but that it was your debut. I will remember you in that day, dominating out in the middle at the G. Rest in peace, Phil.
- December 3 2014 5:04 AMTo mourn too long
For those we love
Is self indulgent-
But to honour their memory
With a promise
To live title better
For having known them
Gives purpose to their life
And some reason for their death

RIP Phil #408 63* forever - December 3 2014 4:21 AMA verse from the Bible :
Isaiah 57:1-2 from the New Living Translation
"Good people pass away;the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why?"....No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come.....For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die.
