Nov 17, 2014
(Will New Zealand bounce back, or will Pakistan continue domination in Abu Dhabi. Catch the Live Cricket Score and Live Updates of this match)

New Zealand  206/2 | Overs 70
Tom Latham 116 (220), Ross Taylor 14 (45)
Drinks at the ground now. New Zealand gets past 200 mark. Tom Latham and Ross Taylor are taking New Zealand towards a big score in the first innings. Current partnership has already scored 53 runs.

New Zealand  186/2 | Overs 62
Tom Latham 100 (192), Ross Taylor 11 (25)
Back to back hundreds for Tom Latham.  He becomes the first Kiwi opener in 24 years to score back to back Test centuries. What a knock he played for his country.

New Zealand  160/2 | Overs 56
Tom Latham 84 (177), Ross Taylor 1 (5)
Tea at Day 1: Another good session for the visitors. Though they lost the wicket of Kane Williamson just before Tea but still they are in a strong position in this Test match.

New Zealand  159/2 | Overs 55
Tom Latham 83 (175), Ross Taylor 1 (1)
Out!! Much needed breakthrough for Pakistan. Williamson is gone. He has played down the wrong line. It was a tossed up delivery that straightens a touch, Williamson was looking to play the one that comes in with the arm, the ball goes through, clips the back pad and crashes into off and middle. Ross Taylor is the new man in.
K Williamson b Z Babar 32(86)

New Zealand  149/1 | Overs 50
Tom Latham 75 (161), Kane Williamson 31 (70)
New Zealand slowly but surely building a strong base for themselves to make a comeback in the three match Test series after being 0-1 down. Tom Latham and Kane Williamson are batting sensibly. Pakistan bowlers are looking helpless against their solid show.

New Zealand  131/1 | Overs 43
Tom Latham 62 (134), Kane Williamson 26 (57)
Drinks at the ground now. Fifty plus partnership between these two. This is the fourth fifty-plus partnership between Latham and Williamson in 8 innings.

New Zealand  98/1 | Overs 35
Tom Latham 51 (120), Kane Williamson 4 (21)
Fifty for Tom Latham. He continued his good show in the tour of united Arab Emirates (UAE) as the southpaw reached his fourth half-century in Tests. Kane Williamson is giving him good company.

New Zealand  87/1 | Overs 31
Tom Latham 40 (102), Kane Williamson 4 (15)
Kiwi batsmen started cautiously after Lunch. Only 5 runs has been scored in the three overs after Lunch. Rahat Ali and Zulfiqar Babar are bowling for Pakistan.

New Zealand  82/1 | Overs 28
Tom Latham 35 (90), Kane Williamson 4 (9)
Lunch on day 1: It has to be New Zealand’s session despite a brain-outage by Brendon McCullum. He worked hard for nearly two hours, survived a couple of close calls in process but threw it away – picking the lone man in the deep for the pull shot. Williamson has just come in while Latham has looked very solid, despite a review against him when Adil pinged him on the pads, albeit a bit high.

New Zealand  80/1 | Overs 25
Tom Latham 34 (79), Kane Williamson 3 (2)
Out! First one down for New Zealand and its the big one, Brendon McCullum. He just threw his wicket away. He picked out the lone man in the deep mid-wicket placed for the pull/hook. He rocks back and times the pull, but straight to the fielder. Misbah wags his finger in delight – maybe it was a trap set and the Kiwi skipper has fallen for it. That is a poor way to get out in this format. Kane Williamson is the new man in.
B McCullum c Masood b Ehsan Adil 43(69)

New Zealand  55/0 | Overs 16
Tom Latham 29 (56),  B McCullum 26 (40)
50 up for the Kiwis. Both Tom Latham and Brendon McCullum are batting well against the Pakistan spinners. They looked comfortable and the ball is also not turning yet. Great start for them.

New Zealand  24/0 | Overs 7
Tom Latham 11 (27),  B McCullum 13 (15)
New Zealand have made a decent start. Both Pakistani blowers, Rahat and Ehsan are bowling bit short. They need to pitch the ball up. After losing the toss, it be a Test of Misbah’s captaincy and Pakistan bowlers.

New Zealand  2/0 | Over 1
Tom Latham 2 (6),  B McCullum 0 (0)
Tom Latham and Brendon McCullum opened the innings for New Zealand as expected at the crease. Rahat Ali will opened the attack for the Pakistan and its was a decent first over.

Three changes for Pakistan: The openers are injured so Taufeeq Umar and Shan Masood came in. Imran Khan has been rested for Ehsan Adil.
New Zealand have fielded an unchanged team.

Pakistan: Shan Masood, Taufeeq Umar, Azhar Ali, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq(c), Asad Shafiq, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Yasir Shah, Zulfiqar Babar, Ehsan Adil, Rahat Ali

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the second Test match between Pakistan and New Zealand at Dubai. I am Sandipan Banerjee and I will be bringing you the live updates of the match.
Pakistan has stepped up 1-0 in the three-match Test series. This match at Dubai will be an opportunity for New Zealand to improve their game and put up a fighting show. Pakistan has played seven Tests so far at Dubai since 2010 and has managed to win four as well as draw two.
Earlier in the first match at Abu Dhabi, Pakistan continued their dominating approach as they squared out New Zealand by 248 runs to win the first Test played at Abu Dhabi. Interestingly, Pakistan declared in both their innings and set a 480-run target but New Zealand was squashed at 231. Out of the 231 runs New Zealand gathered in their second innings, 115 runs were contributed from their last four batsmen. With this victory at Abu Dhabi, Misbah-ul-Haq also became the most successful captain to lead Pakistan in Tests.
New Zealand have been left behind in all departments of the game be it batting, bowling or fielding. Pakistan have exposed all the shades of the Kiwis and also issued a big warning before the ICC World Cup 2015. The Kiwi bowlers bowled 170.5 overs in the first innings of the last Test but only managed to pick three wickets. The bowling performance in the second innings was no better. Shockingly, Tim Southee and Trent Boult went wicketless. These two bowlers need to bring in all their experience into play at Dubai.
Squads:
New Zealand: Brendon McCullum (c), BJ Watling (wk), Kane Williamson, Luke Ronchi (wk), Tim Southee, Ross Taylor,  Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, James Neesham, Hamish Rutherford, Ish Sodhi, Neil Wagner, Doug Bracewell, Mark Craig, Tom Latham.
Pakistan: Misbah-ul-Haq (c), Yasir Shah, Zulfiqar Babar, Ahmed Shehzad, Younis Khan, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali, Ehsan Adil, Haris Sohail, Taufeeq Umar, Imran Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Talha, Rahat Ali, Shan Masood.
